OP 23 - Front Cover

The latest issue of Ocean Paddler Magazine has been out for a few days and I’m really pleased to have my first full blown article in it (as opposed to my normal kit reviews). Following questions from several visitors to my website, i decided to take a look at how I go about taking night photographs when out paddling. I was also lucky enough to have one of my photos used on the ‘next issue’ page – a shot taken at Ashlet Creek last winter.

The article is not intended to be a full blown ‘how to guide’, rather a look at how I have developed my night photography skills, the kit and techniques I use and where i see my paddling photography going in the future.

I make no bones about the fact that I am still a relative novice to the world of photography and continue to make mistakes and miss shots every trip out. However practice, perseverance and a lot of reading have begun to pay off allowing me to share some of the sights I see with family, friends and readers of the Solent Sea Kayaking Website. Hopefully the article will prove of interest to some of the regular Ocean Paddler Magazine readers – only time will tell!

If you’ve arrived at this website as a result of the article, I would invite you to take a look this post to see more examples of my night photography or use the search facility with the keywords ‘night photography’.
