NFKCC Summer’s Evening Paddle

Over the course of the season, the New Forest Kayak and Canoe Club have a calendar of events. From rolling sessions in the Saltwater Baths to training paddles on the Beaulieu River. Interspersed throughout these regular events are specific trips organised by various club members. This week Vicky did a sterling job of co-ordinating what turned out to be a sizeable group for a paddle over to the Isle of Wight. Private Coaching Weekend

Last weekend I headed over to the Isle of Wight to work for Owen at Isle of Wight Sea Kayaking. The two days were spent with Mark and Simon, a father and son who had booked two days of private coaching to take their current paddling skills (predominantly rivers and white water) onto the sea environment. Novorca Greenland Paddles are constructed from Carbon Fibre by Ron Steinwall in the USA. I’ve had the pleasure of trying a couple of Novorca paddles, including the Razor which was designed by Turner Wilson. This 7 minute video was shot by Christopher Crowhurst over the course of 3 days and shows the intricate process Ron uses to create his stunning paddles.
