So blogposts, articles and reviews have been very thin on the ground recently. It’s been a period of time when work and family life have been very hectic, taking priority over fun stuff like blogging!

That said, I’ve done more paddling in the last couple of months than ever, albeit predominantly local stuff, either as preparation for courses, using kit as part of the reviewing process or as part of my training routine (more on that in a future blog post). the photo used in this post was taken on one such ‘snatched’ paddle on the Isle of Wight. I was due on the Island for a days course but a late night ferry, few hour kip in the car and a 5am wake up call gave me a chance to grab a few hours paddle including a short surf session as the swell built along Compton Bay. Made it back to Freshwater for the 9am start of the course although it was tempting to keep paddling!

I’ve been keeping up to date on other folks adventures through RSS feeds, twitter, facebook and the like but took a conscious decision to avoid getting too involved.

However, finally, life seems to be calming down and I’ve decided the time is right to get back to the blog, starting with a new design for the site. I’m still tweaking the theme to get things the way I want them so for a little while yet older posts and articles may look a little odd in places until I get things squared away. Hopefully the effort will be worth it in the end!

Cheers, Duncan
